Toy Camera Tuesday . . . Kim Hildebrand Photography

Photographer: Kim Hildebrand Photography

Camera: Fuji disposable underwater camera (800 speed)

Lab: The FIND Lab

From the photographer:

“I took these at our cabin while on vacation last summer in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  I love the vintage vibe the disposable camera brought to the images, as well as the fun perspectives and angles a waterproof camera gives you.”

Catherine Rodriguez Photography . . . Yashica Mat 124G

Photographer: Catherine Rodriguez Photography
Camera: Yashica Mat 124G  (c.1970-1986)
Film: Fuji 800 NPZ, expired in 2003
Lab: Pro Photo Connection (aka Pro Photo Irvine/PPI)

From the Photographer:

“I had just gotten back my Yashica Mat 124g from the able hands of Mark Hama, Yashica repair specialist so I was excited to get back to shooting it. I had been eager to do a gypsy photo shoot with my daughter and invited two other film photographer moms to join me with their daughters. We spent a lovely afternoon by a creek just north of Dallas — and the girls enjoyed their dress up session.”

Julie Peveto Photography . . . Agfa Ansco B2 Shur Shot

Camera: Agfa Ansco B2 Shur Shot (c.1930s)
Film: Ilford FP4
Processing & Scanning: Photovision

Photographer: Julie Peveto Photography (Lewisville, TX)

From the photographer:

I shot my first roll of film on a camera I took home after my grandpa passed away a few years ago. It’s been sitting in my cabinet as a decoration but one day I decided to research it to see if I could still take photos with it. Thanks to the internet, I was able to find out which film to use (B2/120), as well as watch videos on how the shutter works, how to load film and advance it and even printed out an old owner’s manual that included such advice as “Smile and your subject will smile with you” and “Your camera costs money. Take care of it”. The camera can take full size or half size images, and I decided to take half size images, by flipping up metal flaps in the back, but failed to realize, if you shoot this way, you have to reverse the way you compose -on the vertical viewfinder, the image will be only the middle horizontal section, and vice versa for the horizontal viewfinder. this is why some of my images are cut off, but that makes them interesting, right??  I hope to use the camera again, maybe with some color film.

Kel Ward Photography | Kodak Anniversary Camera

This is a cool camera. In 1930, Kodak celebrated their 50th anniversary by distributing half a million of these cameras to children turning 12 that year! These images were taken by Kel Ward Photography over the course of 2-3 years, using some Tri-X film. She explained that the camera’s shutter lever was broken and required her to click it down, and then pull it back up. The result, which appears to be a series of double exposures is really just camera shake from manually moving opening and closing the shutter. Either way, we think the results are pretty cool!
